Solar College Initiative

Solar College Initiative (SCI) sponsored by GVI, was founded in November 2008 and is incorporated as a California nonprofit called SolarCollege. SCI's mission is to rapidly maximize the adoption of solar energy on every college and university campus by offering highly specialized consulting services to both simplify the process and make it economically feasible. SolarCollege provides a specialized consulting process for institutions of higher education to rapidly determine and implement the most effective and economically feasible deployment of solar their specific campus. Our team of experts assists each individual college to determine its needs, build stakeholder support, develop an RFP (Request for Proposals), and negotiate the various avenues of financing to find a feasible solution that best suits the needs of the institution. SolarCollege is presently an all-volunteer nation-wide organization led by a small Management Team, guided by an Advisory Committee, and supported by our network of Associates, who serve on various task-forces and committees. We are building regional and campus leadership teams (students, faculty, sustainability officers, senior administrators, trustees, alumni, etc,) developing alliances with other nonprofit organizations, campus groups and solar industry companies for our full launch in Fall '09.
