Solar Stimulus Initiative

GVI's Solar Stimulus Initiative (SSI) is focused on developing actionable stimulus-related information for the solar industry and institutions that could benefit from stimulus funding to deploy solar energy.  The first project, in development, is the publication of nineteen Solar Stimulus Briefs (SSB) here: www.solar-stimulus.info

About the Solar Stimulus Initiative
The Stimulus bill, or American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), has many provisions that pertain to solar energy. In the summer of 2009 a small team of graduate students were commissioned to summarize the solar provisions in the ARRA by Jigar Shah, founder of SunEdison and Travis Bradford, founder and president of The Prometheus Institute for Sustainable Development and author of Solar Revolution: The Economic Transformation of the Global Energy Industry (MIT Press; 2006).

GVI was then asked to develop the project. It was named the Solar Stimulus Initiative (SSI) and Eric Heisman was appointed as director.
Shah and Bradford are now heading up Sir Richard Branson's Carbon War Room (CWR), a global philanthropic initiative to harness the resource and skills of the world's entrepreneurs and institutions to deliver solutions enabling humanity to prosper beyond the carbon economy.

The SSI team is focused on managing updates for the Solar Stimulus Briefs, developing additional state-specific reports, promoting the project to the solar industry
, and developing ongoing actionable stimulus-related content.
